In brief: Two injured in Barboursville fire
BARBOURSVILLE -- Two women suffered smoke inhalation Sunday
during a fire in the clubhouse of Guyan Golf and Country Club,
according to Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Phil
Kincaid.
The victims, whose names were undisclosed, were transported
to a Huntington hospital. Their conditions were unavailable,
but Kincaid said the women mainly were transported for observation.
He said both are laundry employees at the country club.
BVFD Lt. Andrew Frazier said the fire began in an industrial-size
dryer and quickly was contained. The first floor of the clubhouse
sustained minimal to moderate smoke damage, he said.
About 12 BVFD firefighters responded to the scene and set up
ventilation fans to remove the smoke. The fire was reported
at 11:39 a.m., according to Cabell County 911 records, and firefighters
cleared the scene at 1:05 p.m.
The cause of the fire was unknown Sunday.
