Fire damages elderly woman's home

Another fire has heavily damaged an elderly Corpus Christi woman's home Friday morning.

81-year-old Adeline Gonzalez, who lives in the 300 block of Ohio (map) said she was doing laundry around 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, when she saw flames coming from her clothes dryer.  She tried to put it out with a garden hose, but couldn't stop it from spreading.

"I just wanted to get the fire out, that's all I wanted to do, get the fire out, try to save as much I could, that's all cause I worked so hard for many years to have what I have," said Gonzalez.

Firemen rescued one of Mrs. Gonzalez's cats, but two others are missing.
