Coles County Fire Injures Two
Posted: March 28, 2006
Coles County fire officials say a clothes dryer may be to blame
for a fire that sent two residents to the hospital with burn
injuries.
Fire Investigator for the Coles County Sheriff's Office Oren
Lockhart says the home of Jack and Sherrie Walker caught fire
at around 9:00 p.m. Monday.
The home was located north of Fox Ridge State Park and was completely
engulfed in flames when Hutton fire volunteers arrived on the
scene.
Lockhart says it appears the fire was caused by an explosion
in the clothes dryer.
He also says the fire did not cause permanent damage to the
home.
Authorities say Sherrie Walker and her son did suffer burns,
but their injuries were not life threatening.
