House fire displaces 6 people
Six people will be displaced from their Paradise Valley home
after an accidental house fire Friday, but no one was injured.
Casper Fire-EMS and the Natrona County Fire Protection District
responded to a structure fire at 17 Gardenia at about 7:35 a.m.
A fire in the utility room was extinguished, and smoke filling
the rest of the home was cleared with ventilation.
However, the utility suffered heat and smoke damage, and the
rest of the house also was damaged by smoke. The occupants of
the home received a check from the City/County Burn Fund and
will receive help from Red Cross while they are displaced.
Investigators ruled the fire an accident and said it was caused
when heat from the dryer ignited lint built up in the vent.
Casper Fire-EMS reminds home-owners to check their dryer vents
for lint build-up on a regular basis and to clean or replace
dryer ducts as necessary.
