Apartment dryer fire forces evacuation
A dryer fire at an Ann Arbor apartment building led to an early
morning
evacuation Friday and smoke damage throughout the structure,
the city fire
department reported.
Battalion Chief Bob Amburgey said the dryer was left unattended
for about
30 minutes when it started on fire in a laundry room at Albert
Terrace
Apartments in the 1700 block of Geddes Road.
The 3:45 a.m. fire forced the
evacuation of residents as heavy smoke filled the three-story
building,
Amburgey said.
