Blaze causes $20,000 damage to Pekin house
PEKIN - No one was injured Sunday during a house fire that caused
an estimated $20,000 damage to the structure, Pekin Fire Chief
Chuck Lauss said.
Firefighters were called to 920 Park Ave. about 5 p.m. The fire
likely originated on the second floor of the home near a washer
and dryer, although an exact cause is still unknown, Lauss said.
Owner Bryan Cordts and his family were not at home at the time
of the fire.
A firefighter was taken to Pekin Hospital and treated and released
for shortness of breath, Lauss said.
The first floor of the home also sustained smoke damage.
